"We’ve engaged with the (FBI, Montgomery County District Attorney), and local law enforcement in Whitpain Township investigating a bomb threat targeted at the Montgomery County GOP," state police said in a post on X, formerly Twitter.

Staff at the headquarters located at 860 Blue Bell Pike received "an angry, profanity-laced bomb threat" via phone call at 11:07 a.m., a news release attached to the X post states.

This incident "is one of an increasing amount of threats, violence, and intimidation acts against GOP candidates, offices, and staff this cycle — on top of two assassination attempts against President Donald Trump," according to the news release.

One man, John Pollard, 62, was recently charged with threatening via text message to kill a representative of an unnamed Pennsylvania state political party on Monday, Oct. 21, according to previous reporting by Daily Voice. In one text, Pollard threatened to skin the victim alive.

Pollard was charged with one count of Transmitting Interstate Threats and could face a maximum penalty of five years in prison.

"There is no place for violence or threats of violence against any political group or voter," Pennsylvania State Police said in a follow-up post on X. "We are committed to working with the (Pennsylvania State Department) to ensure the 2024 elections are safe, secure, and fair."
